Our Game Development Workshop at the University of Waterloo

hyperPad, the most powerful app creation platform on iPad, recently hosted several in-person workshops at the University of Waterloo in partnership with Renison University College. These workshops were open to all students, including high school, undergraduate, and graduate, who were interested in learning more about the game and app design industry.

During the workshop, students had the opportunity to use hyperPad to design their first game and ask questions to the presenters. Through hands-on exercises and interactive demonstrations, students learned computer science concepts such as programming logic, game mechanics, and user experience design. These concepts are not only useful for game design, but also for other areas of technology such as mobile app development and software engineering.

All participants received free hyperPad code, swag, food, and a certification of completion to add to their resumes. In addition, a Game Jam was held for students looking for a challenge, with prizes awarded to the winners. Based on feedback from the workshop, the majority of students felt more inclined to continue learning about game development after using hyperPad. All participants found the workshop to be helpful in learning about game design. Some students were so engaged that they even participated in a hackathon, using hyperPad to create their games in just one week!

Overall, the workshop was a great success, with students leaving feeling energized and excited about their future in game design and technology.
